This class is a two-day immersive introduction to the art of stone lithography. Be guided by our experienced printers step-by-step through the process of creating a lithograph. You will learn how to prepare a lithographic stone, how to use various drawing materials to create imagery, how to use a printing press, and how to print a limited edition of your own original lithograph. We will touch on the history of lithography and view work by contemporary artists who use the medium. You will be shown how to prepare paper and how to grain the stone. All skill levels are welcome.
APW will provide all materials needed (including inks, stone, paper, printing materials etc). Participants will create an image up to 12cm x 18cm in size. Bring along some ideas, sketches, drawings, photos, etc that you can discuss with your class tutor who can assist you in articulating and developing your image.
Conditions of Enrolment
Full payment must be made at time of registration. Refunds will only be given if:
Payment is received after the class has been filled.
The class is cancelled.
The participant notifies APW of their withdrawal at least 14 days before the start date of the class (a fee of $50 will be charged for each withdrawal).
APW is not responsible for non-refundable airline or travel tickets or accommodation purchased by class participants. Parking is restricted around APW. Public transport is a convenient alternative. APW reserves the right to add, withdraw or vary the program.
