Explore intaglio printmaking through the creation of tonal imagery. Learn how to paint directly onto the copper plate to create painterly marks and use acid like watercolour - perfect for artists who enjoy the freedom of using a brush.
Participants will develop the skills to use aquatint, sugar-lift, spit-bite and open-bite techniques. Experiment with ways of drawing and printing the plates to produce rich, tonal images.
The class will cover plate preparation, etching, paper preparation and the printing of a small edition.
Friday's Studio Day is a chance to refine and extend your techniques, with your tutor on hand to assist.
Part of APW's Summer School.
